Just not very often. Real life has been batshit crazy and I’m very ready for all of this to end. Bring on May so I can leave town for 3 months and be rid of my current abode! Unfortunately I have not ready anything for fun in months, unless you count skimming specific scenes in The Power that Preserves by Stephen R. Donaldson, a book I freakin’ adore. Creative writing has been arresting much of my writing time, though I have managed to complete a few random 3-6 page short fics, a chapter in Ill-Borne Prince, and I am roughly 3/4 done with the most recent Gravity chapter. Right now my current nemesis is an abridged version of Winter of the Witch for creative writing (abridged because we’re limited to 30 pages, double-spaced, so 15 pages normal space and I am sitting at page 14 normal spaced and the ending hasn’t even been written. So yes. Serious cutting).

Spring break begins in just 5-6 hours, though! Maybe four hours depending on when my ride gets here. Speaking of which, I need to finish writing this letter then skedaddle to eat lunch and pack.
I will be legal in less than one week, how scary is that?

Valentine’s Day is on February 14th because this date was considered the first day of the bird mating season. So I would like to wish you all a merry Bird Sex Day.

I have been busy with school and other general life stuff, including trying to find a place to live for my final school year and in figuring out somewhere to go for spring break in light of turning 21 during that time. Considering I don’t like swimming or drinking, you’d be amazed at how many places this eliminates. However, the writing continues (both in and out of class). I have completed some 60,000 words in book two of the Dark Star Series, though sadly this only accounts for about the first four chapters then random stuff later on in the book since I have a tendency to jump around if I’m bored with the current scene. Gilded Cage is about 3/5 edited and I have most of the plot for another novella planned though it remains elusively nameless. Basic homework aside, my creative writing class (which is absolutely glorious) has taken up some of my time, but it has produced the short stories Fairy Thimble and its super loose sequel Stealing Candlelight, as well as the beginning of Winter of the Witch. I have one more story I have to write for the class, and I have every intention of making it dark and twisted and pushing limits again. Enough of these sappy love stories people keep turning in!

I’ve redone the site again as I try and figure out what I even want to use it for. The font right now is a little hard to read so I’ll probably be darkening it at some point as I tweak the CSS and whatnot. I did not win NaNoWriMo, getting too hosed up in schoolwork and Dark Star Series knocking on my brain door with puppy eyes and a bread basket (which was deceptively empty, bastard), but I did reach 30k. Right now, Empty Gravity has become my focus. I would love to have book 2 of Dark Star done before next summer, then start on Waltz of the Dying Tree the following fall with the goal to have that done by summer 2013. Ultimately I hope to have both Symphonia and Dark Star done by…2016? This seems like so far away O.o. (This is, of course, ludicrously hopeful. I could very easily need a break from both between now and summer 2016 and randomly work on something else. Heck, Adventures of the Ill-Borne Prince had like 1/5 of itself written while I wrote and finished Gilded Cage, and worked on Empty Gravity).

Being home for the holidays slows me down. Not because I’m busy and it’s the holidays but that I’m so used to going to the library and working for hours and hours. Here I have things to distract me. Like other stories. Or food. Or World of Warcraft.
